One of the emerging aspects of archeology of the image basically abbreviates cross-linked readings of Foucault, Appadurai and Benjamin. Based on the image/strata proposal, the aim of this article is to briefly state the theoretical premises that underlie the archaeological-visual attempt to excavate in the images photographed in archaeological contexts. From these, I dialogue with a photo-archaeological exercise by Jesús Eduardo López, which destabilizes the aestheticizing narrative of ruinization to give light to another sense of temporality, which rescues the geological roots of archaeological stratigraphy and photography.Los ejercicios de observación, registro y visualización arqueológicos, en el horizonte que Sudeshna Guha denomina como post postprocesual, plantean diversos medios de acceso a la complejidad del pasado (con una perspectiva experiencial y cognitiva) y rebasan el carácter representacional que define el tratamiento de las fotografías en esta disciplina. Una de las emergentes vertientes de arqueología de la imagen abreva fundamentalmente de lecturas entrecruzadas de Michel Foucault, (1977), Arjun Appadurai, (1986) y Walter Benjamin, (2005).
