Resumo:This paper examines the changes in the gender pay gap during the Great Recession. The main conclusion is that the observed narrowing of the gap is not so much the result of an improvement in women's wages as of a deterioration in men's employment conditions due to the asymmetric sectoral distribution of employment between men and women.
