Descripción
Sumario:[EN] Glass Fibre-Reinforced Polymers (GFRP) bars are replacing steel bars in reinforced concrete elements with high durability requirements, such as port infrastructures or nuclear power plants. The aim of this work is to study the viability of the georadar non-destructive inspection technique (Ground Penetrating Radar, GPR) to detect GFRP reinforcement in concrete, compared to conventional steel reinforcement. For this purpose, several concrete slabs with GFRP and steel reinforcement were inspected with portable georadar equipment: two slabs manufactured in the laboratory (with different diameter, separation and coating thickness) and two concrete slabs from real works. As a result, it was obtained that the inspection with georadar has allowed the detection of GFRP bars, although with a less clear signal than for steel, detecting those with a diameter greater than or equal to 14 mm and a concrete cover of 25 mm.
