Resumo:One of the most important and conspicuous communicative systems in anuran communication is acoustic communication. Their vocalizations are diverse and comprise different types of calls that are classified into categories (reproduction, aggression, defense) based on their social context and specific function. In herpetology, the use of calls has been instrumental in species identification. Furthermore, they serve as a vital integrative tool for addressing issues of phylogeny and taxonomy in cryptic, polymorphic, or difficult to identify groups. The tropical Andes are among the most diverse regions on Earth, exhibiting the highest levels of endemism, particularly in high Andean ecosystems. However, a significant portion of this diversity and endemism remains unknown.Considering the importance of conducting acoustic studies, the lack of information on high Andean ecosystems, and the limited knowledge on groups of endemic and cryptic species, such as the Pristimantis myersi group, the general objectives of this thesis are to record and characterize the calls of anurans present in the high Andean ecosystems of northern Ecuador, specifically in the Carchi province, by analyzing their spectral and temporal variables. The interspecific variation of the calls of the Pristimantis myersi group is determined by analyzing the influence of different biotic and abiotic factors on this variation.
