Description
Summary:Siegfried Kracauer embodies, more than any other author, Georg Simmel’s project of hermeneutics of the metropolis. His articles, as real ethnographic chronicles, analyze the metamorphoses of metropolitan life linked to the birth of mass culture. This attention to the superficial phenomena of urban life leads Kracauer to sense in apparently insignificant environments (streets, cafes, cinemas, waiting rooms…) the places where the secret meaning of Modernity shows.
