| Resumo: | This thesis explores the order of the members of the divine sphere reflected in Greek papyri of magical content (PGM). The first section focuses on the religious and philosophical context of Roman Egypt, particularly the relationship between magic and religion, and the multicultural and intercultural milieu of the period. In the second section, after a review of theological questions regarding the different religious and philosophical traditions that shape these texts, three chapters propose and analyse the three categories to which the divine entities in the PGM may belong—supreme, superior, or intermediate. The entities in each are considered according to the characteristics they present, the designations they receive, and the functions they perform. The last chapter focuses on the phenomenon of ego-proclamation, in which the ritual officiant identifies himself with a divine being. |
