Description
Summary:The massive use of ICTs by children and teenagers exposes them to forms of online sexual interaction with adults that have elements common to offline sexual abuse. It is therefore necessary to define the differences between these two phenomena in order to ensure that preventing potential victims is implemented in a manner compatible with the principle of proportionality, with the consequent need for a differentiated legal response. In order to do this, we investigate the characteristics of online victimisation and its effects on victims, address the problem of identifying protected legal assets and conclude with a series of recommendations for legislative reform and restrictive application of criminal offences.
