Descripción
Sumario:This article is aimed at showing the importance of the War of Spanish Succession and its effects on the development of the population, focusing on San Clemente, a town located in La Mancha which played an important role in the course of this military conflict. Since San Clemente was the head of one the country subdivisions (Corregimiento), it became the headquarters that represented the Crown and, therefore, the place from which the Court regulations were applied. Moreover, the study of the population during the pre-statistical period constitutes a good indicator to distinguish the degree of population development during the Ancien Regime.
