The states on which the study has been carried out, as well as the comparison, are representative of the north, center and south of the European Union: Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Finland. The selection of these countries responds to the cultural and musical tradition of each of them, as well as the presence of the great pedagogues of Music Education of the last century. The aspects analyzed are, on the one hand, the duration of the teacher studies in each of these countries, the curricular framework that they propose, as well as more concise aspects in reference to the key competences, contents and the institutions in charge. The data reflect the diversity in all these aspects, not only in the initial training of teachers in music education for the Primary Education Stage, but also in the general planning of the teaching profession. As relevant data, the commitment to general training with a specialization section (with a greater or lesser credit load) for music education can be observed. We cannot affirm that there is a comprehensive training in Didactics of Musical expression for primary music teachers.El presente trabajo es un estudio comparado en torno a la formación inicial del profesorado de Educación Musical en la etapa de Educación Primaria en la Unión Europea. Los estados sobre los que se ha realizado el estudio, así como la comparativa, son representativos del norte, centro y sur de la Unión Europea: España, Portugal, Francia, Alemania, Austria, Hungría y Finlandia. La selección de estos países responde a la tradición cultural y musical de cada uno de ellos, así como a la presencia de los grandes pedagogos de Educación Musical del pasado siglo. Los aspectos analizados son, por una parte, la duración de los estudios de maestro en cada uno de estos países, la trama curricular que plantean, así como aspectos más concisos en referencia a las competencias clave, contenidos y las instituciones encargadas. Los datos reflejan la diversidad en todos estos aspectos, no solo ya en la formación inicial del profesorado en materia de educación musical para la Etapa de Educación Primaria, sino también en la planificación general de la profesión de maestro. Como dato relevante, se observa la apuesta por una formación generalista con un tramo de especialización (con mayor o menor carga crediticia) para la educación musical.
