Experiments have shown a wide variety of surface phenomena, such as the influence of the Sr-bearing newly-formed surface on the subsequent growth (template effect), the growth and subsequent dissolution of surfaces and the nucleation of secondary three-dimensional nuclei on calcite surfaces.
