| Sumario: | [EN] The figure of Santiago Artal has always been tied to his first work, "Santa María Micaela" housing group, built in Valencia, between 1958 and 1961. The scarce existing literature reduces his career basically to this realization and is only made some isolated reference to the construction of the apartments "La Nao" in Jávea, Alicante. The research arises in order to analyze in depth the project process and the final outcome of these two residential complexes. The first, has great relevance in the historical context in which it occurs, as it represents one of the first examples in Spain to incorporate the ideas of modernity in the housing architecture and even some of revisionist proposals carried out in those years by critical architects with modernity. The apartments "La Nao", can be understood as a continuity in the work begun by Santiago Artal in Valencia. Our research is based on interpretation of the works under study from the constructed fact. Known the real and concrete answer to a problem, returns to the origin of the project, gather available data and the conditions that made it possible are inferred. This thesis falls within the area of inferential and genetic criticism. |
