| Resumo: | In the grammatical and lexical description of Spanish, concepts such as onomatopoeia or sound symbolism, and more rarely ideophone, are often used sporadically or marginally. In this article I will propose that the phenomena related to these and other terms are interrelated and affect all levels of the Spanish language. They are all manifestations of linguistic mimesis or glottomimesis, the linguistic imitation of the non-linguistic world, which affects all levels of the language and which must be considered as one of the characteristic areas not only of the Spanish language in particular but also of languages in general. |
