Of a warlike confrontation. The study analyzed the narrative of L'Osservatore Romano about the Venezuelan crisis, through an approach with a transactional and quantitative design, with an intensive sampling made up of 47 editions of the Vatican newspaper, published during 2018. The categories of studies were political, food, health, and human mobility conditions. The results affirm that the Holy See adopted the term humanitarian crisis and emphasized the migratory phenomenon of minor victims, both in its literary and photographic resources.El discurso periodístico tiene implicaciones en la descripción y narración de los acontecimientos, sobre todo de frente a grandes conflictos. La situación de Venezuela en el 2018, significó un desafío social de grandes proporciones para todo el continente, planteando la necesidad de saber si fue una crisis o una emergencia humanitaria, comprendiendo que la diferencia de los términos radica en la presencia de víctimas civiles en medio de un enfrentamiento bélico. El estudio analizó la narrativa de L’Osservatore Romano sobre la crisis venezolana, a través de un abordaje con diseño transeccional y cuantitativo, con un muestreo intensivo conformado por 47 ediciones del periódico del Vaticano, publicadas durante el año 2018. Las categorías de estudios fueron: condiciones políticas, de alimentación, sanitarias y de movilidad humana.
