It starts from the question: how is humor expressed in the face of fear or pain? This is done with three studies in Mexico: the influenza pandemic in 2009, the 2017 earthquake reminiscent of the 1985 earthquake, and the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021. In conclusion, it is possible to affirm that humor was a survival strategy in each situation, to calm negative thoughts, balance emotions, re signifying and encouraging, in general.
