Sumario:The objective of the present research was to determine the floristic composition, structure and biomass of individual trees of the Moraceae family, as a source of aerial carbon as a function of the altitudinal gradient (601-1000 masl) in the piedmont evergreen forest of the Ecuadorian Amazon. The results showed the determination of 117 individuals belonging to the Moraceae family, which were grouped into 32 genera, the most abundant species are Ficus sp with 9.40% relative abundance, Brosimun alicastrum with 6.84%, Naucleopsis sp. 5.98%. The analysis of the horizontal and vertical structure, data of DBH and diameter of the tree crown projection were considered, by using ArcGis v10.2.2 the horizontal profile chart was made, determining that the tops of the species of the Moraceae family comprise approximately 16.43% of the upper canopy within the area of the sampling unit. The trees of the Moraceae family have a carbon capture capacity in the projected aerial biomass of 652.67 (Mg ha-1) per hectare, with the Ficus cuatracasana Dugand being the one with the highest uptake in the projected aerial with 652,67 (Mg ha-1). These results allow us to recommend studies aimed at knowing the capacity of carbon accumulation in species of other families, emphasizing spices with high commercial value for their timber resource.
