Even though sumak kawsay comes from criticism and contributions of ancient Andean cultures, however, it does not end as eminently culturalist approach neither it promotes to  back to the past. It is critically framed in a holistic way in the universal tendency to seek new insights into human welfare, equity and harmony with nature, beyond economism grounded in the markets.Este artículo tiene como objetivo principal situar al sumak kawsay o buen vivir en el marco del debate sobre alternativas al desarrollo capitalista, que a su vez comprenden planteamientos más profundos y de largo alcance que el desarrollo alternativo.
