Sumario:This article is an overview of the development of sociology from the 1970s until present days. The main argument is that the originality of the foundational project of the sociology in Central America was its regional perspective, which first became weak and later almost completely disappeared. The challenge now is about how to strengthen the discipline from this perspective but grounded in the present.
