| Sumario: | Worldwide, it is well known the importance of wilderness ecosystem, it not only comes as storage of water, but also as a scenic, historical and cultural component, as people inhabiting the carries its history. This is the case of the moor Casaiches Arenal, who shares her beauty, history and resources with the community of the same name. While conservation for years has been in the country of voluntary ways, this was not sufficient for the production and population requirements, which have forced themselves to the loss of the characteristics of the moor. In this situation the world community has joined in efforts to mitigate the negative anthropogenic impacts on the ecosystem and the RAMSAR convention, same that adheres Ecuador in 1990, and has allowed the country have developed policies and conservation actions biodiversity and sustainable use of resources. In 2008, the government initiative born of forest and páramos conservation program through incentive pay, for 2011 the Community Casaiches Arenal, specifically the Agricultural Workers Association Casaiches Arenal enters this program and put under this system of conservation 80 hectares of wasteland. Knowledge of social and environmental impact of the program in question allow to answer this question, for which referral to the case study, using surveys to determine the fate of investments, levels of acceptance, knowledge of project payments, purchases , family welfare, among others. In addition to assessing the environmental impact generated from accession as beneficiaries (as) of Casaiches Arenal community, a cause-effect matrix was applied as a method of identification and assessment with quantitative but also qualitative results not only. With the information obtained we conclude that while environmental effects are positive in relation to the conservation of the moor Casaiches Arenal, social and economic effects on the population are average, with basic sustainability. From the results a proposal for sustainability to improve the living conditions of the study population arises, this is based on strategic alliances of the sectors involved in the socioeconomic level of the Cantón Guaranda, tending to a combination of actions productive, infrastructure and basic services including ongoing training and organizational guidance to beneficiaries. The pooling of efforts allow medium-term objectives of Good Living are reflected in Casaiches Arenal community, association of the same name agricultural workers, reflecting improved management and care of the moor ecosystem, reducing pressure on it. The information in this study will be a tool for making decisions regarding land use, improvement and implementation of the program and other projects in the area and affecting the quality of life of the population. |
