The context of the research is located in SMEs entrepreneurs from Argentine Patagonia. A systematic literature review (SRL) was developed, using scientific journal databases to identify key concepts, which were grouped into dimensions and validated via card-sorting technique with foresight experts. This work validated most of the dimensions, but others were found to show conflict between theory and practice. O objetivo deste artigo é: identificar o estado da arte de como as PMEs desenvolvem processos de foresight para monitoramento e compreensão do ambiente visando a antecipação de mudanças nos fatores de contingência, assim como quais são as principais barreiras para a adoção desses processos. O contexto da pesquisa está situado em empresários PME da Patagônia Argentina. Foi desenvolvida uma revisão da literatura acadêmica (SRL), com pesquisa em bases de dados de periódicos científicos para identificar conceitos-chave, que foram agrupados em dimensões e validadas via card-sorting com especialistas de foresight e, a partir disso, buscou-se evidencias no campo, diante entrevistas com empresários PMEs.
