Description
Summary:The general objective of this thesis project was to develop a fire emergency plan for the Nazareno-Riobamba Christian Educational Unit, with the aim of strengthening the institution's preparedness and safeguarding the well-being of the educational community. Data collection was conducted across an area of 2,315.42 m² and involved a census population of 477 individuals; various tools were employed, including field observation, document analysis, and georeferencing, with a primary focus on risk assessment using the MESERI method. The diagnostic results determined that the institution has a weighted value of 5.72 on the MESERI index, placing the facility in the medium-risk category—a level considered technically acceptable given that its fire protection coefficient (P) exceeds 5. Following the design of the proposal, the plan was implemented by acquiring and installing fire protection equipment and conducting a comprehensive training program for teachers, students, and support staff. This intervention was validated in the field through a general fire drill, which recorded an evacuation time of 5.10 minutes to the main courtyard. The major risk analysis concluded that implementing the fire emergency plan is essential to mitigate existing risks and ensure a safe, reliable institution for all personnel.
