Resumo:We compared the reproductive systems in population of Clidemia capitellata (Bonpl.) D. Don, C bullosa De. and C hir(L.) D. Don. (Melastomataceae). The tee species occur in small populations in forest margins al Mata de Dois Irmaos, Recife, Pernambuco, Brasil and are sympatric. They fower thoughout the year, and are occasionaly visited by Halictidae bees, Augochlropsis sp.; the bees collect pollen by vibration ("buzz pollination"). The three species areagamospermous and exbít high level of male sterility, as measured by their low pollen viabilty
