Descrição
Resumo:Abstract: This article pretends to show the current tension in the image of the Cuban-Spanish writer Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda (1814-1873), to know: first, how the identity element has coexisted more like a historiography than a literary discourse; second, whether the author portrays a Cuban or a Spanish nationality. For this reason, the textual space in her writing is examined, and with it, the poems: “Al partir” and “La vuelta a la patria” are analyzed. The first poem was written in 1836 when the author leaves Cuba, and the second poem was written in 1859, when she returns. In these two moments of the poetic-and-historic “I” a reading of the adherence to Cuba as an identify space is presented, as well as the standing-out elements of this voice such as the climate, vegetal surroundings, and the wildlife of the Latin American environment.
