Bivalve molluscs, mortalities, Vibrio alginolyticus, pathogenicity, causality.La presencia de bacterias del género Vibrio spp., en los sistemas de producción de moluscos bivalvos, es un factor de riesgo considerable en la producción de los mismos, este documento, presenta el procedimiento y los resultados obtenidos en un bioensayo realizado con larvas de ostra del Pacífico Crassostrea gigas. Desafiadas con una cepa patogénica de Vibrio alginolyticus, aislada a partir de una muestra de larvas D muertas. Se describe la evolución del cuadro clínico lesional durante las primeras 24 horas y los resultados de los análisis bacteriológicos. La mortalidad de los grupos desafiados superó el 90%. Los recuentos bacterianos finales superaron los 2,7x104 ufc/ml. Las cepas recuperadas de los organismos muertos fueron similares en morfología a las utilizadas en el inóculo infeccioso.
