description This essay discusses the evolution of the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (ACR) to the RDA (Resource, Description and Access) standard in Costa Rica, highlighting the importance of adapting to a constantly changing bibliographic environment. The implementation of RDA in Costa Rica is analyzed through various institutions, from university libraries to the National Library System, highlighting challenges such as training and adaptation to a more flexible standard. The academic response is explored, especially in library schools, which have adjusted their curricula to incorporate RDA, showing a comprehensive commitment to professional updating, without limiting implementation in the classroom, as there is evidence of a comprehensive commitment to research projects, final graduation projects and cooperation agreements with various institutions. It also highlights the emergence of the RDA Costa Rica group as an essential collaborative entity in the field of librarianship, anticipating its crucial role in the standardization of the organization of information in the country. The text concludes by underlining that the transition to RDA in Costa Rica has been enriching and challenging, led by universities and supported by ongoing collaboration among library institutions. Continued research on the application of RDA in different contexts is essential to address the specific challenges of the Costa Rican library environment.
