Introduction: Indigenous communities have always fought for the recognition of their social, political and cultural rights. The 1991 Political Constitution of Colombia recognized cultural diversity and the responsibility to protect ethnic traditions and customs. Despite this, there is a gap between legislation and its effective application. That said, it is crucial to implement strategies to guarantee the adequate execution of regulations and actions to materialize such recognition. Objective: Faced with this challenging situation, the researchers of this experience have set the objective of recognizing ethnic and cultural diversity at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogota campus, through the promotion of indigenous skills and sports. Methodology: We planned and developed the first Community Sports and Skills Meeting, a historic event that took place on April 27, 2023 in the emblematic central square of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Results: In this meeting, the indigenous council of the Universidad Nacional led several activities. These included the presentation of traditional skills, games and indigenous sports of various ethnic communities. In addition, a discussion was organized on the role of community social sports in the social, cultural and sports development of ethnic communities. Cultural activities were also carried out, such as typical dances and music from different regions of the country. Conclusions: This meeting represents a significant step towards valuing cultural diversity in Colombia, marking a milestone in the history of the institution and society in general. |

En la Constitución Política de Colombia de 1991 se reconoció la diversidad cultural y la responsabilidad de proteger las tradiciones y costumbres étnicas. A pesar de ello, existe una brecha entre la legislación y su aplicación efectiva. Dicho esto, es crucial implementar estrategias para garantizar la ejecución adecuada de normativas y acciones para materializar ese reconocimiento. Objetivo: Frente a esta desafiante situación, los investigadores de esta experiencia se han propuesto el objetivo de reconocer la diversidad étnica y cultural en la Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Bogotá, a través de la promoción de las habilidades propias y el deporte indígena. Metodología: Se planificó y desarrolló el primer Encuentro de Habilidades Propias y Deporte Comunitario, un evento histórico que se llevó a cabo el día 27 de abril de 2023 en la emblemática plaza central de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Resultados: En este encuentro, el cabildo indígena de la Universidad Nacional lideró varias actividades. Estas incluyeron la presentación de habilidades tradicionales, juegos y deportes autóctonos de diversas comunidades étnicas. Además, se organizó un conversatorio sobre el papel del deporte social comunitario en el desarrollo social, cultural y deportivo de las comunidades étnicas. También, se llevaron a cabo actividades culturales, como música y danzas típicas de diferentes regiones del país. Conclusiones: Este encuentro representa un paso significativo hacia la valoración de la diversidad cultural en Colombia, marcando un hito en la historia de la institución y la sociedad en general.Introdução: As comunidades indígenas sempre lutaram pelo reconhecimento de seus direitos sociais, políticos e culturais. A Constituição Política da Colômbia de 1991 reconheceu a diversidade cultural e a responsabilidade de proteger as tradições e costumes étnicos. Apesar disso, existe uma lacuna entre a legislação e sua aplicação efetiva. Dito isso, é crucial implementar estratégias que garantam a execução adequada das normas e ações que materializem esse reconhecimento. Objetivo: Diante dessa situação desafiadora, os pesquisadores desta experiência estabeleceram como objetivo reconhecer a diversidade étnica e cultural na Universidade Nacional da Colômbia, campus Bogotá, por meio da promoção de habilidades e esportes indígenas. Metodologia: Planejamos e desenvolvemos o I Encontro Comunitário de Esportes e Habilidades, um evento histórico realizado em 27 de abril de 2023, na emblemática praça central da Universidade Nacional da Colômbia. Resultados: Neste encontro, o conselho indígena da Universidade Nacional liderou diversas atividades.
