These citizens would have difficulty finding other spaces with the same reach in terms of the immediate transmission of the message; how viral the content can become; the breadth of audiences that can be reached; and the possibility of generating social and political impact to solve problems. However, it is also increasingly common that with the use, but particularly the abuse of these digital spaces that they are becoming places of defamation, ridicule and unjustified lynching. This demonstrates the considerable impact the use of digital technologies can have on people’s lives, including beyond the digital realm. The solution to these problems would be through an ethical use of these technologies, as well as critical thinking about the information that is consulted in them.El uso de Internet y las redes sociales digitales han permitido brindar una ventana de expresión que, cada vez más, es utilizada como lugar en donde se dan a conocer injusticias, ilegalidades o violaciones a los derechos de la ciudadanía. Estos ciudadanos difícilmente encontrarían otros espacios con el mismo alcance en cuanto a: la inmediatez de la transmisión de los mensajes; lo viral que pueden llegar a convertirse los contenidos; la amplitud de las audiencias que pueden alcanzar; y la posibilidad de generar impactos sociales y políticos para la resolución de las problemáticas. Sin embargo, también es cada vez más común que con el uso, pero sobre todo con el abuso, en la utilización de estos espacios digitales, se estén convirtiendo en lugares para la difamación, el escarnio y el linchamiento injustificado. Esto demuestra el fuerte impacto que tiene el uso de las tecnologías digitales en la vida de las personas, incluso más allá del ámbito digital.
