Sumario:In order to understand the philosophical context where the present volume of Philosophy of Language’s discussion starts from, I introduce Gottlob Frege’s Puzzle and explain why it has been a problem for direct-reference theorists. I show how Howard Wettstein and Stavroula Glezakos have tried to dissolve Frege’s Puzzle by focusing our attention on Glezakos’s argument, which will be the main target in the discussion below.
