The presence of these species at Isla del Caño can be explained by dispersion and vicariant processes.Se informa la presencia de nueve especies de peces en los sistemas dulceacuícolas de la Isla del Caño (08°42’4’’N, 83°53’20’’W), de las cuales cinco constituyen nuevos registros para la isla. Rivulus hildebrandi y Branchyrhaphis rhabdophora son los únicos representantes de familias de peces dulceacuícolas secundarios reconocidos en este estudio; mientras que las restantes especies se incluyen en las categorías periféricas dulceacuícolas y periféricas marinas.
