This study presents the results of a program for children on the consequences of wild mammal roadkills in the area of Sarapiquí. The program was held in six schools: Corazon de Jesus, La Virgen, La Guaria, Chilamate, El Tigre and Horquetas, for 146 children in four and five grades, whose ages ranged from 9 to 10 years. It consisted of 14 activities intended to acquaint students with the general characteristics of wild mammals, as well as the major threats they face, emphasizing road death due to vehicles.La Educación Ambiental debe verse como una herramienta que permite enfrentar los nuevos retos ambientales, al impulsar una generación que cuida más conscientemente el entorno y sus desafíos. En este trabajo se presentan los resultados de un programa de Educación Ambiental dirigido a sensibilizar a niños y niñas sobre las consecuencias del atropello a mamíferos silvestres en la zona de Sarapiquí. El programa se realizó en las escuelas: Corazón de Jesús, La Virgen, La Guaria, Chilamate, El Tigre y Horquetas, a 146 niños de cuarto y quinto grado, cuya edad oscilaba entre los 9 y 10 años.
