| Sumario: | Introduction: Adrenal myelolipoma is a rare, benign adrenal tumor composed of adipose and haematopoietic tissues. Usually diagnosis is incidentally established during radiological examination for other pathologies. The great majority is asymptomatic and hormonally nonfunctioning. Objective: To relate a case of adrenal myelolipoma diagnosed incidentally during ultrasonografic evaluation. Method: Revision of medical records. Case report: A 56- year-old woman had the diagnosis of adrenal mass during investigation for abdominal pain by ultrasonography. Computerized tomography confirmed this finding and surgery was recommended for removal. Histology was positive for myelolipoma. Conclusion: Adrenal myelolipoma is an uncommon tumor, asymptomatic and diagnosed occasionally during imaging studies. This report illustrates such assertion and the need to include the myelolipoma in differential diagnosis of retroperitoneal and adrenal tumors. |
