Sumario:Leaf litter insect fauna stands out for its high abundance, diversity, ecological importance and sensitivity to environmental changes. Thus, they have great potential as bioindicators of ecological restoration. The aim of this study was to evaluate the population dynamics, and composition of the leaf litter insect fauna (Class Insecta) in areas with different ecological restoration techniques in the Serra do Itajaí National Park. Four sample areas were determined, being: native forest (reference area), natural regeneration, brushwood transposition and soil roughness. Collections were carried out from August/2014 to August/2015, bimonthly, from the installation of a pitfall trap and Berlese-Tüllgren funnel. The abundance, number of families, similarity, composition, population dynamics of the most abundant families and correlation with environmental factors were analyzed. A total of 16,062 individuals were collected, distributed in 15 orders and 104 families. No significant differences were observed in the abundance and number of families between the sample areas. The area of natural regeneration showed the highest percentage of similarity with the area of native forest. Temperature was the only environmental factor that significantly influenced the abundance of Staphylinidae,Ptiliidae, Curculionidae (Coleoptera), Cercopidae, Aphidiae (Hemiptera) and Gryllidae (Orthoptera) families. The composition of families varied significantly between the sample areas. It is concluded that litter entomofauna families have potential for use as bioindicators in monitoring ecological restoration. Temperature is a variable that must be considered in the definition and implementation of restoration strategies in order to favor the restoration of the leaf litter insect fauna.
