| Resumo: | We evaluated the impact of closed buildings on the effectiveness of surveillance and control activities of Aedes aegypti, in the municipalities of Guaruja and Hortolândia. During the activity of monitoring activity of larval infestation in the months of May and November 2008, the closed properties were characterized and revisited on the weekend. In May, in Guaruja, 29.9% of the properties were closed and in Hortolandia this proportion was 32.9%, in November the percentages were 12.6% and 35.4%, respectively. In Hortolandia about 90% of the closed properties were classified as Dormitory and in Guaruja approximately 45% were classified as Dormitory and 45% as Others. It was observed that, in general, the positivity of the group of closed properties in the first visit and revisited on weekends, was higher than the positivity recorded at the group of properties found open on the first visit, however, the difference was significant only in Guaruja on May. In relation to containers, in Guaruja there were predominance of drains, disposable material and plant vase and dish, and Hortolandia, the key containers were disposable material, and plant vases and dishes. The information evaluated demonstrated different characteristics among the two municipalities/regions, which should be considered to the adoption of strategies to improve the results of the activities of dengue surveillance and control of dengue. |
