| Sumario: | Ecotourism has been promoted as a way of developing tourist activity, incorporating sustainable principles and environmental education, in order to promote a tourist experience beyond the simple delight of tourist attractions and considering the conservation of the environment. Despite its broad potential, ecotourism has not yet fully developed in Brazil. Municipal, state or federal parks face barriers to the promotion of ecotourism, whether due to problems of accessibility, infrastructure or dissemination of activities developed in these, among other issues. The present study, through a bibliographical and documental research, analyzes the case of the territory of Ilha Grande, in the State of Rio de Janeiro, regarding the materialization of the ecotourism activity. In order to assist our analyses, a SWOT Matrix was proposed about the threats, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths existing in the region, in order to analyze its potential for the development of ecotourism. Based on the analyzes developed, there is a need for clear articulation between the actors involved in the management of policies around Ilha Grande, so that strategies can be established to implement ecotourism activities in this space. In addition, the current scenario distances the tourism that has been practiced in Ilha Grande from the ideals of ecotourism. |
