Sumario:The answer given by Hans Georg Gadamer to Reinhart Koselleck opens to somequestions on the Theory of History. Without intending to exhaust them, this paper points out some proximity and differences between these two characters. In this sense, although Koselleck and Gadamer recognize that language, historicity and history are related, the position of each one of them varies. In short, the most intense differenceconcerns the understanding of what knowledge is. Knowledge to Gadamer is related to a device to embrace the uncertainty and suffer from and with the limits of language. To Koselleck knowledge sometimes overflows understanding. There is no need to embrace the uncertainty, since the past, even as knowledge, do not necessarily entails a meaning, on the contrary, often negate and obliterate understanding
