Resumo:The current context is marked by the emergence of covid-19 and the adoption of extraordinary measures of social distance and quarantine that impose new challenges on the university library as a social institution. In this scenario, this article aims to support a reflection on the importance of policy design and the consequent implementation of planned actions, within the scope of preservation, that contribute to the continuity of bibliographic collections, specifically after the reality of the new coronavirus pandemic, directly associated with caring for the community that has access to libraries. As for the methodology, the case study based on experiences in the UFMG Library System was used . From the results obtained, it was observed that training and preparing those responsible for the information units directly impacts the preservation of collections housed in university libraries.
