| Sumario: | The municipality of Bonito, Mato Grosso do Sul, a case study of this research, develops ecotourism as one of the main economic activities, and this work proposes to evaluate how much ecotourism has effectively contributed to nature conservation, specifically on land use. First, a mapping of the scientific production was carried out with regard to the concept of ecotourism, sustainable tourism and community-based tourism. Then, secondary data was researched on the amount of money that ecotourism leaves in Bonito/MS, followed by satellite image analysis to verify land use in recent years, as well as the influence of this transformation on the transparency of the Rio da Prata. The products of these analyzes aim to bring a breakthrough in discussions about what has been produced in relation to these themes, and the relationship between nature conservation, market-based solutions and economic activities such as ecotourism and agriculture.
