Description
Summary:Mapping documentaries produced in the Southern of Brazil (from 1995 to 2010), we could realise a relation between the production’s enlargement on this sort of cinema in the region and the interest about the “memory’s documentary". We aim to investigate which aspects of this "culture of memory”- an identity feature of this cinema. Could we mention a vocation for memory in the documentaries of this region? What vocation is it? We carried out a textual analysis of the synopsis of the 102 films, directing to identify the main terms which configure the presentation mode of the documentaries, even as the character types that resides the filmic representations. The strong mark of the “memory's documentary" in this production comes as reflex of the "presentism" (HARTOG, 2014), many documentaries enunciate a commitment from the present to "rescue", "record", "uncover" stories, being the majority (62%) dedicated to represent people, celebrities or ordinary people, but also in this cinema it’s emphasized the given importance to heritage and institutions as objects of representation.
