Este trabalho tem por objetivo apresentar uma proposta de descrição da morfossintaxe da língua Sateré-Mawé (Tupi), uma língua indígena falada por uma população de aproximadamente 8.500 pessoas que habitam a Terra Indígena Andirá-Marau, na região do médio rio Amazonas/AM. O enfoque teórico adotado é da tipologia funcional, que tem como pressuposto, a noção de função linguística dos elementos que compõem o sistema linguístico e sua relação com outros elementos do mesmo sistema. Aliada a essa noção buscam-se também as possíveis inter-relações entre língua e cultura Sateré-Mawé. A metodologia se apresenta em dois momentos. O primeiro diz respeito ao trabalho de campo que objetiva a coleta de dados e a análise preliminar desses ainda em campo. O segundo diz respeito à análise usando como aporte teórico o que se apresenta na tipologia da línguas do mundo e das línguas indígenas brasileiras. Buscando as inter-relações entre língua e cultura, esse trabalho é composto de duas partes. A primeira traz informações sobre os aspectos etnográficos, culturais e sociolinguísticos do povo. A segunda apresenta aspectos da fonologia e da morfossintaxe da língua. Nesta última, tratam-se as classes de palavras, a estrutura da sentença, as orações reflexivas, recíprocas e causativas da língua, as construções possessivas, bem como as combinações sentenciais de orações multiverbais. O estudo da língua Sateré-Mawé que se apresenta pretende uma contribuição ao conhecimento das línguas indígenas brasileiras, em particular das línguas amazônicas.Abstract: Studying Brazilian Indian languages represent an important contribution to the linguistic knowledge of languages worldwide. This work aims to present a description proposal for the morphological-syntactical aspects of Satere-Mawé (Tupi), an Indian language spoken by a population of around 8,500 people who inhabit the Indian land Andirá-Marau, in the middle Amazon river region - Amazon State. The theoretical focus adopted is the functional typology which has a presupposition the linguistic functional notion of the elements which make the linguistic system itself and its relation with other elements of the same system. There we have linked to this very same notion the possible interrelations between language and the Sateré-Mawé culture. Methodology is presented in two moments. The first one is related to the field word which aims to collect data and analyze such data still on field. The second one claims the analysis using the theoretical support which presents the language typology worldwide as well as the Brazilian Indian languages. Still searching the interconnections between language and culture, this paperwork is made of two parts. The first one brings information about the ethnographic, cultural and sociolinguistic aspects of the people. The second one presents phonological aspects as well as morphologic and syntactical ones. Taking into consideration the latter one, this one focus the word classes, the sentence structure, the reflexive clauses, the causative, reciprocal and possessive constructions, as well as the sentence combinations of multi-verbal clauses.
