| Resumo: | School should be an instrument of social transformation. However, as an institution used as a tool to maintain racism in society, it ends up intentionally preserving privileges that have been secured for centuries by a particular group. In this context, critical race literacy is presented as the starting point of an anti-racist education, thus, it seeks to educate individuals to a non-racist practice. We aimed to present the concept of racial literacy as a possibility of action in the fight against racism inside and outside the school. To this end, we conducted qualitative bibliographic research. The research was based on authors such as Cavalleiro (2020), Ferreira (2014), Freire (2001), among others. We concluded that the importance of educating for racial relations is urgent and that critical racial literacy can contribute to the formation of black racial identities in Brazil, decentralizing the Eurocentric culture in schools and society. |
