| Sumario: | Professor of Political Science at the UFMG, Juarez Rocha Guimarães is a leading figure in the Brazilian political intelligentsia and an intellectual with encyclopaedic knowledge and a gentle manner. Republican ways, one might say. If the republic is the fundamental category of his thought, Juarez Guimarães did not fail to also deal with other concepts and theses that are somehow related to the idea of republic: modernity, liberalism, counterculture, liberalism. On a pleasant afternoon before the conference 30 years, and now? which would come to honour our interviewee, we received Juarez at the Faculdade de Direito e Ciências do Estado and had a conversation that was both rich and pleasant. We hope that it will also be a source of wisdom for our readers. |
