| Sumario: | The process of urbanization has taken to an increase in the population that live in urban areas. Public spaces and urban green areas have been important in this context, because to the intensification of the occupation of urban space with buildings and, consequently, the reduction of areas with natural vegetation. In addition to being environmental preservation sites, urban green areas have also been used as spaces for public use and leisure. Urban parks are public spaces that have the ecological, aesthetic, leisure and leisure function in urban areas, allowing the greater interaction between man and nature. Despite the increase in the quantity and use of public leisure spaces, there are areas where this use could be more intense, due to the lack of habit of the local population, vandalism and violence, as well as the lack of interest of the public power to keep them adequate to use. In this sense, this research has as object the Jirau Alto Ecological Park, a public and local space for the preservation of a green area, located in the urban area of the municipality of Dois Vizinhos - PR. The objective of this dissertation, is to know the history, through the analysis of the trajectory of creation and past and present use of the park, considering its ecological and social functions. For the development of this research, the methodological procedures were based on bibliographic research, documentary research and field research. During the research, through the perception and interviews it was possible to verify that it is a place that is underutilized by the population and has not fulfilled its social function as a leisure and recreation space for the population. Despite presenting problems, public spaces such as this one is fundamental and should be valued, both by the population and by public managers. But this is not the case, since the perception of the population is very negative about space, and this is due to the absence of municipal management in exercising its role. Finally, some recommendations made from the research are considered and will be passed on to the current managers of the Jirau Alto Ecological Park. |
