| Sumario: | This research characterized the groundwater, under crystalline basement, of a portion of Ceará’s semiarid analyzing the ioniccontent of the groundwater and using water quality indices. All the stability indices indicated a strong corrosive tendency. Regarding irrigation purposes, part of the groundwater has a high risk of soil salinization and sodification. The water quality indices related to ionic content divided the groundwater in two, those with good quality and appropriate for general useand those with low quality and inappropriate for general use. |
