Descripción
Sumario:Disinformation is a global threat that endangers collective life as it contributes to the spread of scientific denialism, political skepticism, and existential nihilism. Imminent harmful effects include increased distrust of institutions, erosion of democratic life, and the fraying of the social fabric. Various ways of confronting disinformation have been used, and media education is one of them. Although Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's third term created a structure to address this area, it cannot yet be said that Brazil has a consolidated national public policy for media education. This article aims to offer contributions to the design of a media literacy program that is based on two axes: media criticism as an ongoing exercise and journalistic ethics as a guiding element in the provision of content and as a guide for educational practices.
