Sumario:Abstract: Karstic regions exhibit great scenic beauty, translucent rivers, caves, caverns, abysses, among other features that result in landscapes increasingly incorporated into nature tourism circuits. In this context, the objective of this research was to evaluate the potential of landscapes for tourism in the Formoso River Hydrographic Basin (BHRF), Bonito/MS, through the identification, classification and mapping of landscapes, using environmental and geoecological indicators in an integrated and systemic way. The operationalization of the research used a matrix of variables and criteria linked to naturalness, diversity, uniqueness, complexity, visual quality, presence of scenic rivers and evaluation of tourism enterprises, for each of the landscape units, which were assigned weights of potential handled in GIS ArcGis 10® environment. As results, the existence of seven first-level and twenty-three second-level landscape units was pointed out, in a marked heterogeneity that was linked to the steep and, in some cases, dissected relief, which favors the occurrence of waterfalls and rapids. The rivers with translucent waters are also linked to a very high potentiality for tourism, and it is in these units that a large part of Bonito's tourist developments are located. This work contributes to the theoretical and methodological framework, as well as to the practice and applicability in a karst region, facilitating the organization of the tourism phenomenon in order to interrelate it with the potential of the landscape, aiming at sustainable tourism planning and management.
