A TEST OF RATIONALITY OF INDIVIDUALS DECISION-MAKING: Research on the Presence of the Biases Expected by Behavioral FinanceABSTRACT The current study aimed to analyze the rationality on decision-making of a group of students, investigating the presence of bias provided by behavioral finance, in particular, relating to the heuristics of anchoring and representativeness. The occurrence of bias generated by the theory of mental accounting was also investigated. The results showed evidences of some of these heuristics and their biases on decision making by individuals, reflecting difficulties in the subjective evaluation of probabilities. This study found no evidence that there was significant difference on the heuristics and biases as the intrinsic characteristics of individuals, such as gender or mathematical affinities. Thus, it was not possible to detect a profile of individuals less likely to bias indicated in the body of this work.
