| Resumo: | This article is an exposition of the theoretical principles of modern political realism for the study of international politics. Therefore, the six principles proposed by Hans Morgenthau are presented in order to elucidate the dynamics of the relationships between the main international actors for this theoretical current, relationships that are based on self-interest and the search for the maximization of national power at the international level. The use of the concepts of Nation, Nation-State and nationalism shed light on the conflicting dynamics of international politics, taking into account elements that shape national power, which, in turn, are instrumentalized by the political sphere, which is above all the other spheres of analysis, so that the resources that nations hold are sources that determine the type of engagement they will have at the international level. |
