Sumario:This paper offers a map of displacements of the Brazilian agrarian question since political redemocratization in the 1980’s, focusing on intellectual controversies around three macro-processes of social change: agrarian capitalism’s expansion, emergence of family farming policies and agrarian reform projects. The author tries to understand changes in the knowledge production and also some traits of the social dynamics. He argues that in this period of time new spheres has been opened for intellectual activities which, in connection with other processes of political democratization, favored the emergence of alternative imaginaries to the hegemonic views. On the other hand, it happened besides the continuity of the prevalence of big properties in the agrarian structure and in the development dynamics.
