| Sumario: | The relationship between popular education and rural extension is evident in several texts that address the trajectory of rural extension in Brazil and Latin America. In some cases, it is pointed out that Rural Extension is influenced by the ideology of popular education, while in others popular education is considered to be a way of carrying out rural extension. Through a literature review, we have mapped contributions on the link between popular education and rural extension, focusing on scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals in Portuguese, retrieved from the following repositories: i) Capes Journals; (ii) Google Scholar; (iii) Web of Science; and (iv) Scopus. Initially, we identified 19 publications, which were evaluated with the aim of selecting those that really fulfill our purpose. At the end of this analysis, there were eight articles, which were analyzed and whose results are presented in our discussion. It was possible to conclude that agroecology is a very recurrent meeting point between rural extension and popular education, in which mostly work is done with exchanges, exchange of knowledge and the collective construction of knowledge. |
