| Resumo: | The present paper aims at investigating the phraseological units with zoonyms (UFz) in bilingual school dictionaries. The UFz are popular expressions that carry the name of animals in their compositions, such as, ser uma anta, ser cachorro sem dono. We take the foundations of Metalexicography that investigates the elaboration of dictionaries and of Phraseology that has the phraseological units as its object of studying. According to ORTIZ ÁLVAREZ (2000), the units that make up the phraseological units express images of the real world, everyday experiences that denote the wisdom of a people, and become a very important vehicle of identity and culture. Following the UFz from A to Z, present in Budny's corpora (2015), we used the Google tool to search for Portuguese grants for them, that is, examples, contexts of use to contribute to the database that is being elaborated. We justify the need of this study to find examples that allow a better understanding of the meanings of UFz for foreigners who learn our language and who cannot always understand the meanings of expressions if they are not properly exemplified and also for users who need to translate from Portuguese to English expressions, which have peculiar meanings. In view of this we hope to contribute to the improvement of the organization of dictionaries in the contextualization of UFz. |
