Descrição
Resumo:Fluvial deposits are sediment formations of different materials found along the course of rivers. In this context, the aim was to analyze the socio-economic profile and environmental perceptions of users/occupants in relation to the fluvial deposits (DFs) of the Parnaíba River - PI, as well as their environmental benefits. To this end, the descriptive exploratory research method was used, and the data was obtained through semi-structured interviews using a standardized form involving 62 informants, informal conversations and direct observations between May and July 2022. It was found that the FDs had been used and/or occupied for more than 60 years by the local population for various purposes, such as family farming, fishing, sport, leisure, visitor tourism and as a source of income. The data on socio-economic conditions shows that these activities are mostly carried out by men (61.3%) and adults (67.8%), with incomplete basic education (22.6%), who work in different formal and/or informal professions in the cities of Timon-MA and Teresina-PI. Finally, these environments provide a number of socio-environmental benefits and ecosystem services that reflect on man and/or ecosystems and/or nature, as well as having a high potential for use for school activities and scientific research. In conclusion, it is important to emphasize the need for environmental management bodies to monitor and draw up an environmental management plan for this Permanent Preservation Area (PPA), considering its sustainable use.
